I had a very stressful experience with someone last week about this. 90% of my idea-clashes with society stem from the fact that I equate education with scientific temper while the society around me equates education with being a nerd in school. Claiming to be scientifically trained and then taking cues from popular-culture about how to channel curiosity pisses me off to no end.
Incidents like this replace respect with irritation. Too many idiots who are proud of their ignorance have managed to hold society behind. It is time to replace the old with the new.
